Garmin echoMAP CHIRP 42dv has has a color display 4.3" high resolution with a resolution of 480 x 272 pixels. The echoMAP CHIRP 42dv is equipped with the Garmin GT20 transducer with CHIRP 77/200 kHz and 455/800 kHz CHIRP DownVü (power 500 W). Combined scanning technology Garmin HD-ID ™ and DownVü, in combination with technology CHIRP, allows you to get an image of the underwater world with very high quality and maximum separation of goals. The scanning depth is up to 250 meters. The built-in GPS / GLONASS receiver updates the location 5 times per second. The Garmin echoMAP CHIRP 42dv  software includes a pre-loaded Quickdraw Contours program for the instant creation of custom HD maps during fishing, with an increment of 0.3 meter isobath.

CHIRP Technology

The built-in features of Garmin echoMAP CHIRP 42dv include sonar CHIRP - the most advanced technology available for lovers of fishing and water walks. Sonar CHIRP provides an amazingly clear separation of objectives and a high level of resolution, since this equipment sends even more energy to the target than the traditional sonar. In addition, Garmin echoMAP CHIRP includes a recording function for synchronizing reflected sonar signals with your ship's location and storing digital information, which you can then view on your computer using the HomePort ™ software. Using a cable connection, you can exchange waypoints and routes with other devices.

The Garmin CHIRP DownVü sonar, in combination with Garmin echoMAP CHIRP 42dv, provides near-photographic image quality at depths of up to 750 feet under the vessel. You will be able to look in detail at underwater objects, structures and fish. One transducer combines the traditional sonar Garmin HD-ID ™ and the scanning sonar DownVü. In addition, support for HD-ID trolling motors Minn Kota® and MotorGuide® with integrated transducers is provided.

HD Maps

"Quickdraw Contours" is a free, easy-to-use program installed on the Garmin echoMAP CHIRP 42dv device. This program creates on the screen your own personalized fishing HD maps with isobaths of 0.3 meters. You can customize the received cards as you wish. Use the data yourself or share it with friends and Garmin users. It does not require special knowledge of topographic survey. You just catch fish, and the program "Quickdraw Contours" creates maps. You do not need to wait or send files, as when using other mapping software, the results appear without delay on the screen. You can use the program with any Garmin Panoptix transducer, sonar HD-ID ™, Garmin DownVü transducer or NMEA 2000-compatible depth sensor. If more than one sonar is installed on board your ship, the "Quickdraw Contours" program will automatically select the best data source.

GPS

With the help of a fast and sensitive GPS receiver, Garmin echoMAP CHIRP 42dv updates your location and direction data 5 times per second, making your movements on the screen look smoother. Thanks to the highly sensitive receiver, the accuracy of navigation to the waypoints marked by you increases (in memory up to 5,000 points can be stored).

GPX waypoints transfer

If you have frequently used waypoints, tracks or routes which are stored in the device from another manufacturer of GPS navigators or the GARMIN tourist navigator, they can now easily transfered to your new chartplotter echoMap CHIRP 42dv. GPX - is an open data standard for the GPS navigators allowing to exchange data between different devices and applications, even from different manufacturers. None of your waypoint will be lost.

Take your Garmin echoMAP CHIRP 42dv with you

When you leave the boat ,now it easy to take your Garmin echoMAP CHIRP 42dv with you. You no longer need to disconnect and then connect the power cord and the back of the transducer cable. The cables are now integrated into the device's mount. This allows you to quickly set up and start using the echomap CHIRP 42dv or turn off the power and pull the chartplotter out of the holder.
